John McNamara

President

John McNamara is the President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Organization. Mr. McNamara was diagnosed with hypersensitivity pneumonitis which developed into pulmonary fibrosis in 2003. He received a double-lung transplant at the University of California, San Diego (“UCSD”) Medical Center in 2006. He is a volunteer with the Lung Transplant Team and conducts pre-transplant education with transplant nurse coordinators. John is on call to the UCSD Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit for patient and family support. John is also active with the UCSD Lung Transplant Support Group.

Mr. McNamara graduated from Fordham University in New York in 1979. He has served as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy. Mr. McNamara spent most of his business career in the medical industry, in particular in the fields of diagnostic testing, drug monitoring, interventional cardiology, radiology and cardiovascular surgery devices. He has leadership, management, operations and finance experience with startup businesses as well as Fortune 500 companies. Prior to his illness and surgery, Mr. McNamara enjoyed open water swimming, scuba diving and skiing.
